The newest book from Jackson Hole architecture firm CLB Architects.
Making Place, Inspiring Public details the evolution of CLB Architects’ installation practice. Exhibiting seven key projects in text and imagery, the hardcover book poetically underlines the growing edges of the firm, rendering visible the collaboration and norm-bucking that have made these projects possible. At first one might see the sometimes short-lived installations as incongruous with the rest of CLB’s longer-lasting projects. However, it is this very temporality that establishes this most recent work as a natural extension of the firm’s practice. As the private homes, airports, and public spaces are embedded in the landscape, gracefully evolving with each passing generation, CLB’s installations, although designed and executed in a relatively short time, endure through site-specific reincarnations and within community memory. Elemental and honest to their place, CLB’s installations are acts of connection, instead of simply construction.
